A hard word for the tempted
Most of you probably might find this one harsh.
I think that's okay.
I think it's better to say some things that people might find harsh if it is truth and it births conviction, repentance, sanctification, and the like...
So while I do apologize for the bad feelings this might leave you with if you take it the wrong way, I do not apologize for the content itself. So here goes:Nothing that can tempt you is impossible to resist, except when you choose to resist it without the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
As a result, it is in fact possible to live a life without sinning.
That does not mean you are in fact without sin. Jesus was the only one without sin. It rather means that sinning is an exception followed by remorse, repentance, and actions that prevent it from happening again. That would amount to literally becoming holier with each time you sin because the consequence—you being so grieved by your sin—makes you decide not to fall to that temptation anymore. Of course, there is also unintentional sin that God knows goes against what He wants, but we are ignorant of.
But the same Bible that we use to figure out who Jesus was also shows us examples of individuals who, to the best of their human abilities and their knowledge, lived a righteous, upright, blameless life according to Scripture itself.
Job 18 says "Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil"
In this passage, God highlights Job's exceptional character, emphasizing his righteousness, fear of God, and rejection of evil. This statement sets the stage for the trials Job is about to face, testing his faith and integrity.
Genesis 6:9 says, “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.”
This verse introduces Noah as someone of high moral character, standing out in a corrupt generation. His righteousness and faithfulness to God set him apart, and it’s a key reason why God chose him to build the ark and preserve humanity and animals through the flood.
Luke 1:6 says, “Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly.”
This verse refers to Zechariah and Elizabeth, the parents of John the Baptist. It highlights their devoutness and faithfulness to God, portraying them as upright individuals who lived in accordance with God's laws, setting an example of righteousness.
Or we could take things to whole new level, as if the above was not enough...
Revelation 14:1–5 describes a group of 144,000 who are distinct in their relationship with God and the Lamb (Jesus Christ). Here’s a breakdown of the passage:
Who are the 144,000 ?
- There are different interpretations of who the 144,000 represent:
In either view, the passage emphasizes the group’s faithfulness, purity, and dedication to God, setting them apart as a unique group in God’s redemptive plan.
Now lets all take a deep breath.
Because, what am I saying here ?
The good news?
There is no temptation, that cannot be withstood and no sin, that can be prevented with the Holy Spirit. That is the kind of power you hold through Christ Jesus and by the Holy Spirit in you.
It does not matter how strong the stronghold over a nation is. It does not matter, how long it has been running in your family. It has no power to stay if you don’t allow it to, so your excuse are running out the more you know what’s up.
The bible has shown us what’s up. The bible has taught us, that we are not slaves to the fallen world we live in, but more than conquerors. We are not victims to sin but advisories thereof, which means we actually can fight them. Ups.
The bible tells us, that we not only can say “its a pity I sin. I don’t like it” but can actually have the authority to say “NO. I WILL NOT SIN”.
Enoch said “NO”, Noah said “NO”, Joseph said “BET NO”, “Samuel said “BEST BELIVE NO”, Elijah said “NO”, Daniel said “NOPE. NOT THIS ONE”, Shadreck, Meshack and Abednego said, “WE SAID N O!”, different prophets said “NO, NO, NO”, different Kings like young King Josiah said “NO, NO,NO”… there are many in between those I have named that said “NO”… Elisabeth and her hubby said “NO”, John the Baptist said “NO”, …
We have learned to read the bible with western eyes y’all. But is by eastern authors who were part of a culture that took this all VERY VERY VERY serious and still do. They grew up with the understanding, that knowing what is sinful and still doing it is a CHOICE that, makes you responsible, for the consequences you suffer. That’s why the disciples asked Jesus “Rabih. Who sinned?” when they encountered the man who had been blind all his life. The understanding of sin and how it works, takes away part of the falls doctrine that everything that happens is either Gods blessing or curse.
It rather Goes like this. ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM GOD BECAUSE GOD IS GOOD. ALL BAND THINGS COME FROM SATAN BECAUSE SATAN IS BAD. YOU ALWYS HAVE A CHOICE BECAUSE YOU HAVE A FREE WILL. YOU GET TO DECIDE, WHAT PRICE YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY.
I’m talking about a scale from, “I don’t need to eat a third piece of cake” to “before you through me in, can you just tell me real quick how many degrees the oven has? I’m making notes for a book someone will write about this”.
There are sins that you can fix in seconds easy. And there are sins, that will cost you, fasting praying, killing yourself and denying over and over what the enemy is forcing on you.
The Holy spirit is here to aid with both.
But if we don’t make the decision to face it. It will not be faced, nor will it disappear by simply crying to the Lord about it and then continue falling victim to it. Say “NO”. Please, say “NO”.
I will end with this.
Jesus says, if our right eye cause us to sin we should gouge it out and if our right hand causes us to sin, we should cut it of, because it is better to have one eye and one hand, than to go to hell and keep both -paraphrasing here (read in Matthew 5: 29-30) -.
He is speaking in a strong term of metaphor here. He does not mean for you to self-mutilate your body, but most definitely your spirit. That’s why it is called dying to self. I you cut of everything that is sinful and you are left with nothing, Jesus becomes ALL OF YOU. That’s why, we are a new creation in Christ. And while “Yes” it is a process, God the father already sees us perfected because Jesus is standing between Him and us. However, that process will only go as fast as we are ready to cut of our spiritual body parts that are causing us to sin.
Notice He uses the right side of both the eye and the hand?
Notice He uses these particular body parts?
Notice the bible gives us the interpretations of these body parts?
The aye is the Light of the Boy and the gate to the soul. The hand is what we do our actions and deeds.
So Jesus is speaking of our inner life and the deeds outside. Our thoughts and feelings and our decisions and actions. Eye and hand. And then the right side, being the side of importance and superiority. The important thoughts, feelings, decisions and actions. THINGS THAT COST MUCH.
Jesus is telling us. No matter the cost of what it is you need to get rid of. DO IT! Please DO IT.
If it is a matter of deleting and app, do it. If it means to separate from that person, do it. If it means apologizing when its hard, do it. If it means giving back the money, admitting you were wrong, feeling humiliated, not receiving attention anymore, standing alone, being ridiculed or whatever it is. DO IT.
Because any price you pay here on earth will be repaid a million times over in eternity and will already start manifesting right here on earth.
Amen Jesus. May we do as you have said.
